SOMmy Says: Don’t forget your clearances!

Pro tip for Music Education majors: Bookmark the College of Education’s Clearances website http://www.wcupa.edu/_academics/coed/studentinfo/clearances.asp
All Music Education students are required to have completed clearances for their education coursework.  The College of Education’s website houses the information on required clearances.

Courses you’ll be taking that require clearances: MUE 201, 331, 332, 431, 432, EDP 250.

All incoming Music Education majors can expect to be placed into MUE 201 this fall, which means you are required to have your clearances completed this summer.  Thereafter you can expect to have to complete your clearances every summer for coursework in the fall and spring semesters.

Bring all original clearance documents to a scanning station and then file the electronic and paper copies in a place where you can easily find them. Your original clearances should be readily accessible should a school or other field placement request to see the originals.

Note: some of these processes require several weeks for results to be returned to you.  Please be sure to start your clearances by mid June to assure that they are complete in time for the beginning of classes this August.  If your clearances are not scanned in by the start of classes you will be removed from your education classes which will put you behind in your coursework.
